Grapes from our own vineyards. The climate in this part of Rioja, with a clear Mediterranean influence, provides excellent ripeness that, combined with low yields (around 5,000 kg/ha), results in Rioja wines with great concentration and fruit expression. After years of research and trials to find the best way to blend the native grape varieties from Rioja, we have found our ideal proportion, which is 80% Tempranillo, 20% Maturana. The grapes arrived at the winery in perfect condition and were destemmed before being transported to stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The fermentation of the three different grape varieties was carried out separately, adjusting critical fermentation parameters such as temperature, pumping over and maceration times to each variety's specific character, with the aim of achieving an optimal balance between good extraction and round, soft tannins. The resulting Tempranillo wine was aged for 18 months in new American oak barrels, while the Maturana was aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. After this aging, the final blend was made and its "assemblage" completed for another three months in French oak foudres (10,000 liters), before bottling to polish and develop the aromas. This wine has not been filtered or artificially stabilized, which may result in natural sediment in the bottle.
