With its 5.5-hectare walled vineyard, Clos des Goisses occupies the best hillside in mareuil-sur-Ay. Bought by Philipponnat almost a century ago, it is a remarkable plot: facing due south, it is unique and instantly recognisable with its extreme gradient. Clos des Goisses is a legendary and particularly powerful wine; it is produced using traditional methods, mostly fermented and aged in casks without malolactic fermentation and matures in the cellars for up to eleven years
