Green Spot Montelana has initially been matured in traditional Sherry and Bourbon casks, then finished for 12 months in French oak Zinfandel wine casks from the prestigious Chateau Montelena in Napa Valley, California. Nose: Crisp oak combines with the soft sweetness of vanilla, white chocolate and marshmallow, balanced with signature Green Spot red apples and ripe pears, along with pomegranate, cranberries and Maraschino cherries, the contribution of the wine cask. Taste: Sweet mouth coating takes on a dry note thanks to the effect of the wine cask. Pot still spices subside with zesty citrus leading to ripe orchard fruit and red berries. A touch of marzipan and toasted oak add to the complexity. Use:Neat or on the rocks. Ingredients: Mash of malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills.

A non age statement Single Pot Still Irish whiskey comprising of Pot Still whiskeys aged between 7 and 10 years. This whiskey has matured in a combination of new Bourbon and refill Bourbon casks as well as Sherry casks. Within the Single Pot Still genre of Irish whiskey you will find the idiosyncratic range of Spot Whiskeys. This family of Whiskeys find their roots in one of Ireland's last remaining Wine Merchants and Whiskey Bonders, Mitchell & Son Ltd. Back in the days when distilleries would sell their new make spirit to bonders who matured them in wine and fortified wine casks, Mitchell & Son developed a reputation for creating some of the finest Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey to be found in the capital. They matured their whiskey in casks under the streets of Dublin in a network of underground cellars. When the fortified wine casks were filled (exclusively with Jameson from Bow St. Distillery) and brought back to Mitchells, they were marked with a daub or 'spot' of paint which identified how long they would be matured for. Blue for 7 years, green for 10 years, yellow for 12 years and red for 15 years - hence the name Spot Whiskey.
