Founded in 1772, the Veuve Clicquot House has since lived by its motto, "Only one quality, the finest". It was actually Madame Clicquot herself who created the very first blended rosà© in the Champagne region. Exactly 200 years ago, in 1818, she broke with the accepted practice of using an elderberry-based preparation and instead blended in some of her fine Bouzy reds with her classic champagne. The result was the world’s first blended rosà©, the Veuve Clicquot Rosà©. Once more, Madame Clicquot was leading the way and changing the rules. And she could only do that thanks to the exceptional quality of her red wines, coming from sought-after vineyards. The secret was, and is, in the blend. The cuvà©e is based on the traditional Yellow Label blend (50 to 55% Pinot Noir, 15 to 20 % Meunier, 28 to 33 % Chardonnay), completed with 12% of red wine using red grapes especially raised and selected to bring strength and aromatic intensity. The result is a burst of red fruits, copper-hued and full-bodied rosà© of character. Veuve Clicquot Rosà© is a true symbol of Madame Clicquot's ingenious and audacious spirit. The blend includes reserve wines (30-45%) which ensure the consistency of the House style, year on year. On the nose: fresh red fruits (raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry, blackberry) leading to biscuity notes (almonds, apricots and brioche). On the palate: full bodied and deliciously fruity, with intense flavors of juicy ripe strawberries and cherries. A burst of red fruits.

"Yellow Label" is its signature champagne, the symbol of the House's art of blending, defining the Veuve Clicquot style through a perfect balance of strength, aromatic intensity, freshness & silkiness. The predominance of Pinot Noir provides the structure that is so typically Clicquot, while a touch of Meunier rounds out the blend. Chardonnay adds the elegance and finesse. Grapes from as many as 50 to 60 different Crus go to the blending of Yellow Label. Traditionally, the proportion of each grape variety used is 50 to 55% Pinot Noir, 15 to 20% Meunier and 28 to 33% Chardonnay. Then, to achieve, year on year, the consistency that makes Yellow Label so immediately recognizable, Cellar Master Dominique Demarville will draw on priceless reserve wines for the blend (from 30 to 45%). Created in 1877, more than 140 years ago, the iconic yellow label - now the most recognizable color in Champagne - continues to represent both the House's heritage and its daring audacity. On the nose: yellow and white fruits, then notes of vanilla and later of brioche. On the palate: freshness and strength while pear and lemon tastes appear. Finish : admirably vinous. The lingering aromas echo and re-echo, with each fruit or almond notes distinct. Ideal as an aperitif, and perfect as the Champagne to enjoy with a meal.
