Teeling Whiskey Explorers Edition 15 Year Old Mugi Shochu Japanese Edition 70cl

Master winner at the Irish Whiskey Masters 2023! Like other releases in the Explorers Edition by Teeling, this whiskey embraces a nation's character and personality by using unique casks to perfectly capture their natural identity. For this release, Teeling selected a whiskey previously aged in bourbon barrels, before giving it a finish for four years in hand-selected casks that previously were used to mature Mugi Shochu. This extra special finish imparts wonderfully enticing notes of lychee and passionfruit to an already stellar Irish whiskey.

Single Malt Irish Whiskey 70cl

A great single malt that is drawn from various ages of whisky from a single undisclosed Irish distillery. The oldest malt in this dates back to 1991 and the various components have been matured in different types of barrels including Sherry, Port, Madeira, White Burgundy and Cabernet Sauvignon. Possibly our favourite new whiskey of 2014. At this price it represents great value for money. Never mind that there is not an age statement, this is as good, if not better than most 12 year old single malts. Nose: vibrant with notes of melon, figs, toffee and lemon. Palate: a balance mix of dry fruits, citrus, vanilla, spice and cloves. Overall: long with sweetness in harmony with dry tannins from the wood.
